MK Party member Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has issued an unreserved apology to the party’s Secretary-General, Floyd Shivambu, for a series of insults she directed at him on the social media platform X earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Zuma-Sambudla was instructed to apologise to Shivambu and party structures or face dire consequences, including the summary termination of her membership.

The MK Party’s statement on Zuma-Sambudla’s posts:

However, her initial apology was not specifically directed at Shivambu, citing that she holds perceptions of how certain issues may be handled within the organisation, especially by the Secretary-General of the party.

In the latest apology, the 42-year-old acknowledged that her posts violated the party’s Disciplinary Code of Conduct, and she asked for forgiveness from the party, supporters, Parliament and the Southern Caucus of the Pan-African Parliament.

“I sincerely apologise for my recent public posts on X, which may have caused offence, division and disruption within the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and beyond. It was never my intention to undermine the principles of unity, respect and discipline that are the foundation of the movement,” says Zuma-Sambudla in a statement.
