The MK Party has dismissed its Mpumalanga convenor, Marry Phadi. She is accused of misappropriation of party funds.
MKP Spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says Phadi failed to make a representation before her membership was terminated.
Ndhlela says she was then requested to resign from the party as well as from being a member of the Mpumalanga Legislature.
Ndhlela says they looked into the mater.
“An investigation was initiated regarding the administration from the party provincially in Mpumalanga and in the legislature and that report brought about findings which implicated her and then she was requested to give her side of the story. And as you would know, uMkhonto weSizwe Party has got a Constitution, had to follow a process of disciplinary hearing which is obviously a transparent process for her to make representation and she didn’t make the representation,” explains Ndhlela.
The Mpumalanga Legislature has confirmed the receipt of the termination letter from the MK Party.
Provincial Legislature Spokesperson Paul Mbenyane, says, “As the Mpumalanga Legislature, we confirm that we have received a letter from uMkhonto weSizwe, the political party, to say they are removing Ms Mary Phadi as the Member of the Legislature. We have not yet received any resignation from the member in question, which is Ms Phadi. What this means as the Legislature (is that) we have noted the letter by the MK Party.”
