Milnerton High learners accused of bullying granted bail


Six of the eight learners from Milnerton High School in Cape Town, allegedly involved in a bullying incident, have been granted R2,000 bail each, with conditions.

The suspects appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court today.

The learners are each facing eight charges of assault with intent to do bodily grievous harm.

They have since been suspended from school following a video which went viral showing a Grade 10 learner being assaulted with various objects including a hockey stick.

All the accused cannot enter the school premises until the matter is finalised.

The other two suspects who appeared in the juvenile court have been released on warning.

The matter has been postponed to the 20th of January next year.

Meanwhile, the Western Cape Department of Education has urged members of the public to refrain from further sharing the video on social media.
