The Midvaal Local municipality in Gauteng has invested over R1.2 million to install an automated system to protect its water system from waterborne diseases.
Midvaal Mayoral Spokesperson Idah Satikhe says the Chlorine Dosing System will ensure that the water supplied to residents is safe to drink.
Satikhe says the reservoir currently supplies water to over 80% of areas within the municipality.
“This R1,2 million investment adds an extra layer of protection against waterborne diseases like cholera, as the system continuously monitors and adjust chlorine levels in real time,” says Satikhe.
