Johannesburg Water says construction of the new Erand Tower and Pump Station project is currently under way to boost water supply in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.
It will serve as additional capacity to the existing Erand Reservoir complex and also cater to the developments in the area.
Johannesburg Water’s spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala says the water utility has invested R92-million in the project.
“The project is currently about 60% complete and upon completion, will boost water supply in areas like Carlswald, Blue Hills, Kyalami and Barbeque Downs. The construction of the new Erand Tower and Pump Station forms part of the entity’s reservoir storage upgrade programme, which aims to ensure provision of a 24-hour storage capacity in all Johannesburg Water’s reservoirs.”
