Meyiwa murder accused Bongani Ntanzi begins his defence case

Bongani Ntanzi, the second accused in the Senzo Meyiwa trial, is expected to begin his defence on Monday morning when the trial gets underway.

Five men are appearing at the High Court in Pretoria, charged with the 2014 murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.

Meyiwa was shot and killed at Kelly Khumalo’s family home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.

Ntanzi is alleged to be one of the intruders that entered the Khumalo home on the day of the murder.

According to eyewitness, two intruders allegedly entered the Khumalo home demanding money and cell phones. One of the suspects was described as a tall man wearing a hooded jacket, who had a round shaped beard.

The state alleges Ntanzi fits that description. The state also says while police were only looking for two individuals in connection with Meyiwa’s murder, it was Ntanzi’s confession that led them to the other accused currently in court.

Ntanzi has denied confessing and denies any role in the alleged hit of the soccer captain.
