Electricity Minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa and the Joburg Mayor Dada Morero briefing the media on City of Joburg’s electricity debt.
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa and Joburg Mayor Dada Morero say they have appointed a mediator to help resolve the City’s electricity debt to Eskom.
City Power, Eskom, and the Minister of Electricity held a meeting on Monday, agreeing to seek independent intervention with a 14-day deadline to report back.
Ramokgopa says they expect to receive feedback from the technical expert by 25 November.
“We have accepted that technically we can get that confirmation in the next 14 days. So, what will happen is that on the 25th of November, the technical expert will come back to myself, the executive mayor and both teams from Eskom and and City Power to say to us that these are the true facts of the situation.”
The City of Johannesburg Mayor says through the Minister the two entities have been able to find each other to try to resolve the multi-billion-rand debt issue.
