MEC condemns fatal shooting incidents in Gqeberha


Eastern Cape Safety MEC Xolile Nqatha has condemned the shooting of eight people in separate incidents at Walmer township in Gqeberha during the long weekend. 

According to police, more than three armed men shot and killed four males, leaving four others injured in three houses on Tuesday.  

On Sunday, a 39-year-old man was shot and killed at Mankazana Street, while three other bodies were found at Airport Valley with several gunshot wounds. 

The MEC’s spokesperson, Makhaya Komisa says police are working around the clock to arrest the suspects. 

“MEC Nqatha is warning the suspects responsible for these heinous crimes that the police are working around the clock to arrest them. The MEC has vowed that police will leave no stone unturned in their investigation to find and apprehend the culprits. The MEC has full confidence in the South African Police Service and strongly believe that the police will make a breakthrough in due time.”
