The three guilty people in the Joshlin Smith kidnapping case
Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie says he has given acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia new information linking several people to the disappearance of Joshlin Smith.
This Friday was the second day of a renewed search for the little girl in Saldanha of the Cape West Coast, following a tip-off from a member of the public.
The search was eventually called off.
The then 6-year-old Joshlin went missing two years ago.
Her mother, Kelly Smith, and her then-boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno Van Rhyn are currently serving life sentences for human trafficking and kidnapping of the girl.
McKenzie was speaking during a visit to Saldanha.
“The minister sent it to the national commissioner Fannie Masemola. And I can tell you I sit next to the minister in Cabinet. He’s not going to sweep things under the carpet. At this stage I’m willing to say that information points to more people being involved in Joshlin Smith’s disappearance, and that’s all I’m going to say at this point.”
