Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has called for calm in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.
This followed the arrest of two suspects linked to the brutal murder of six community patrollers at the Marry Me informal settlement on Saturday.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court this morning.
The suspects were arrested on Monday.
Four of the victims remain in hospital while two have since been discharged.
Mchunu says communities must continue to work together in fighting crime, while police are mobilizing resources to make sure the remaining suspects are arrested.
He says, “Communities must not be deterred and they must not conclude that standing up for the people against crime, it will always be like this. It is not and part of the reason we went there was to ensure them that we have deployed more police and more vehicles and that we have started arresting. We all equally worried those who are still at large. We are dealing with the matter and asking for stability while people are alert.”
