Police Minister Senzo Mchunu at Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who is on special leave, will be back before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee Friday morning.
The committee was established to investigate allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi on the 6th of July.
Among others, Mkhwanazi alleged that Mchunu facilitated the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) because he is linked to individuals who are connected to crime syndicates.
On Thursday, Mchunu told the committee that he was more than keen to tell his side of the story.
“Chair from 6 July, I am wearing General Mkhwanazi, I am smelling General Mkhwanazi, its the first opportunity I get to explain and want to do justice to it. I am pleading to you to give me an opportunity to do that,” Mchunu said.
With regard to allegations that he had links to criminal syndicates, Mchunu vehemently denied that.
