Police Minister Senzo Mchunu testifies before the Ad Hoc Committee on October 21, 2025.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is set to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Tuesday.
The Commission is probing KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s allegations that senior police officials, including Mchunu, are corrupt, have links to criminal syndicates and interfere in policing operations.
Mchunu, who is on a leave of absence, has dismissed the allegations as baseless.
Mchunu’s alleged associate is accused of facilitating the Minister’s payments from Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala, a criminal suspect known for his involvement in large state contracts.
The Commission will also hear testimony from former Ekurhuleni City Manager Dr. Imogen Mashazi and suspended Deputy Police Chief Julius Mkhwanazi this week.
The Commission will wrap up its public hearings for the year on Friday.
The Madlanga Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels says, “The Commission is working toward delivering its interim report to President Cyril Ramaphosa by 17 December 2025 and will therefore wrap up its public hearings for this year by Friday, 5 December 2025.”
