Mbalula urges arrests of those implicated in Madlanga Inquiry

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has called on law enforcement agencies to arrest all those who have been implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

The Commission is probing allegations of criminality, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.

Mbalula was delivering the Oliver Reginald Tambo Memorial Lecture in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape.

He told ANC members that leaders who do not put the interests of the poor at the forefront should not be elected to lead in the ANC.

“We must not wait for the commission to finish its business; if there are people who are supposed to be arrested, let them be arrested. We must not wait for the final verdict of Justice Madlanga; if somebody is supposed to be arrested tonight, arrest them. We do not care who he or she is.”

In the past weeks, the Commission heard evidence from various witnesses who implicated ANC NEC member and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu in having alleged links in the criminal underworld.

Mchunu is currently on special leave.
