The Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC), Fikile Mbalula, has paid tribute to the late Bishop Dr John Bolana.
He was addressing mourners at the bishop’s funeral service in Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape.
Mbalula described Bolana as a devoted spiritual leader who played a significant role in strengthening both the church and the broader community.
He reaffirmed the ANC’s commitment to unity and service, saying Bolana’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
“Bishop Bolana was the embodiment of the values enshrined in our Constitution, and a north star that continues to shine bright, illuminating the part for future generations, to a society whose DNA is encoded in our world renowned Constitution.We gather at a moment when words feel inadequate. Yet our people have always understood that when a great servant departs, we must speak because speech is also remembrance, and remembrance is also commitment.”
The Special Provincial Funeral Category Two that he has been accorded is in recognition of his spiritual leadership and service to the people of the province.
