ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula speaks at Andile Mngwevu’s funeral.
African National Congress (ANC) Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has hailed Ekurhuleni MMC Andile Mngwevu as a brave leader who was moved by the community he served.
The former Ekurhuleni MMC for Roads and Transport Planning died when the vehicle he was travelling in was swept away by floodwater in Mozambique.
Speaking at his funeral service earlier today, at the KwaThema Community Hall in Ekurhuleni, Mbalula said Mngwevu’s life and work had touched and impacted many people.
“He was unashamed to be moved by people’s stories and unafraid to act when action was required. We also honor the fullness of his roles – husband, father, son, brother, comrade colleague. These identities wove together to form a life that was rich in responsibility and relationships. To his family, we say your grief is ours. We hope you will find comfort in the knowledge that the people he served hold you in their prayers and esteem,” adds Mbalula.
