ANC Limpopo Chairperson Stanley Mathabatha addresses the Provincial Executive Committee meeting in Polokwane on June 17, 2025.
Limpopo ANC leaders and the party’s Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the provincial Chairperson Stanley Mathabatha‘s decision to step aside.
Mathabatha has cited some party members’ unethical conduct when he announced his decision. He is the Land Reform and Rural Development Deputy Minister.
ANC provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka, “We can confirm that we received the copy of the letter of the provincial Chairperson indicating his desire to step aside in his responsibility as the provincial chairperson of the ANC. The ANC in the province of Limpopo is constrained from dealing with the merits and demerits of what the letter of the provincial Chairperson contained. We will await further guidance from the national leadership after they would have processed this matter and will act accordingly.”
