Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Mayor Babalwa Lobishe hopes that in today’s Human Rights Commemoration in Kariega the Presidency will heed the call for intensified crime alleviation measures.

The metro is faced with high rates of crime, and it has been working on ensuring enough resources to fight these crimes.

Lobishe has also stated that the gravesite of the victims of the Langa massacre will be declared a heritage site today.

“We are also anticipating that they are going to respond to our call for intensification of anti-crime strategies so we are hopeful that the fact that the deputy president is joining us this morning, the recognition of the site as a heritage site is going also to be declared and it means the foundation will be able to operate optimally when there’s that declaration”
