The fourth and last phase of the Magalies Water Klipdrift Package Plant project will ensure that all areas supplied by the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Plant will have clean drinkable water.

City of Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya says it is expected to be completed by the end of June this year.

Moya undertook an oversight visit to the Rooiwal plant, which is currently being upgraded.

“We are improving the quality of water. What we are not sure is whether this water will be drinkable or not without phase 2 and phase 3. What we are working on at the moment is the issue of financing phase 2. You would recall that when the president was here, he spoke of R4 billion that will be set aside for phase 2. That is how expensive it is. And what it talks to is increasing the capacity of this plant. So that it is able to accommodate the areas that are supposed to be fed here,” says Moya.
