Mayibuye aims to reflect people’s mandate, youth’s voices

The anticipated political formation Mayibuye is continuing its consultation forums, with the focus being on the youth this weekend.

Mayibuye is the brainchild of Floyd Shivambu, former leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

The forums have been held in several provinces, with participants including people formerly aligned with both the EFF, and MK Party.

“The roadmap for us is to finish all of the provinces and as many regions within the provinces as we can get to,” says Mayibuye’s spokesperson, Hlumelo Biko.

He says they are then going to prepare a report for the country. The report will be in-depth and in detail, covering all of the things they have gathered along the way.

“After that, we’re going into an intense engagement to discuss how to respond politically to the mandate that we’re reading from the people. Then we’ll present to the South African people. Our approach going forward, and the character, the shape and the content of the movement, will be clear, based on the mandate that we receive,” adds Biko.
