Minister Senzo Mchunu appeared before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee in Cape Town.
Witness C, testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, has detailed how businessman and criminal suspect Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala contributed R500 000 to Senzo Mchunu’s ANC presidential campaign.
The commission is investigating allegations of criminality and corruption within the criminal justice system.
Witness C says Matlala informed him of the contribution on the day of his arrest in May 2025.
Witness C says Matlala claimed to have ties to Mchunu after his arrest.
This comes after Mchunu denied being in a personal relationship with Matlala when he appeared before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee last week.
Witness C says Matlala also spoke of contributing plane tickets and accommodation to ANC members attending the party’s functions.
“Yeah, I jokingly asked if he believed Minister Mchunu will succeed in the presidency campaign for the ANC, and he indicated that now he did not believe that the Minister will win in his campaign, but he was afraid of discouraging him.”
