Matlala defence to file another bail application with new evidence

Controversial businessman, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s defence has told the High Court in Johannesburg, that they intend on making another application for bail based on new facts.

Matlala, together with his co-accused, appeared in court on Friday where their case was postponed to Thursday next week.

Matlala is facing 11 counts of attempted murder, as well as a string of other charges.

This relates to failed assassination attempts on his former partner Tebogo Thobejane, businessman Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubong – commonly known as DJ Vetteys.

Matlala’s attorney, Annelene van den Heever, “My lord, after having consulted with my client, I have already approached my learned friend. We ask that the matter stand down till Thursday, we got some instructions at this time and we need to have access to the client and that obviously means that he has to sign certain affidavits that relates to the issue of a bail application on new facts which obviously would potentially alleviate a lot of the issues we are dealing with.”
