Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and wife appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg on October 7, 2025.
The pre-trial hearing of controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, together with his four co-accused, is expected to commence on Thursday morning at the High Court in Johannesburg.
Matlala is facing 11 counts of attempted murder along with a string of other charges.
The charges relate to the failed assassination attempts on his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, businessman Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubong, commonly known as DJ Vetteys.
After spending several months behind bars, Matlala, together with his co-accused, will make their first appearance at the High Court.
The state managed to centralise all three cases against him.
These include Sibanyoni’s attempted hit in 2022, Thobejane’s attempted murder in 2023 and DJ Vetteys’ botched hit in 2024.
It is still unclear at this stage if Matlala will be appearing in court in person after being transferred to the Kokstad Super C-max prison.
