ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President Paul Mashatile says if asked to run for president of the organisation, he would not decline.
The party is set to hold its leadership conference next year.
Current party president, Cyril Ramaphosa, is serving his final term.
Mashatile was speaking during an interview with SABC News Political Editor Mzwandile Mbeje in Johannesburg.
“When the members are saying we think you can do this job properly, why should I say no to that? So, I’m ready to be deployed in whatever position… even in the position of president.”
Meanwhile, Mashatile says the ANC is unlikely to form an alliance with the MK Party in KwaZulu-Natal.
He says the ANC will be guided by its principles when deciding who it will work with in the province.
