‘Masemola asks police officers to continue with their work’

Independent analyst, Johan Burger says national police commissioner, Fannie Masemola has asked police officers to continue with their work in a letter issued today.

This comes in the wake of allegations by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi that Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu had ties with a criminal syndicate.

Dr Burger is of the opinion that Mkhwanazi went public with the allegations because he didn’t feel he could trust anyone.

He says it is of utmost importance that President Cyril Ramaphosa deal with the situation speedily.

“Clearly, all is not well. If these allegations are true then clearly, we are in a much bigger crisis than we thought we were in. So hopefully, this situation can be addressed as soon as possible. And probably the best person to do this is the President of the Republic,” says Burger.
