National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola briefs media on 06 February 2026.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has announced the establishment of a new task team that will investigate South African Police Service (SAPS) members implicated at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
The establishment of the team follows a directive from the Presidency, prompted by the submission of an interim report from the commission.
Masemola made the announcement in Pretoria where he and the new National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi, addressed the media on actions to be taken against those implicated at the Madlanga Commission.
The team will be supported by the National Prosecuting Authority.
“It is important to note that some of these cases were already being investigated by the PKTT (Political Killing Task Team), the organised crime and the serious and violent units and teams. However, now that there is this team that we have established, it will then take over these referrals and start the investigation,” adds Masemola.
