Manufacturing production in South Africa declined by 0,8% on an annual basis in September for a second consecutive month.
The data released by Stats SA showed that on a monthly basis, manufacturing production was flat in September compared with August.
Seasonally adjusted output increased by 0,2% in the third quarter of 2024 compared with the previous quarter.
“The automotive division was the largest negative contributor declining by 18.7% year on year and subtracting 1.7 percentage points from overall manufacturing growth. Other divisions that performed poorly include textiles and clothing, wood, paper and publishing, and gloss and non-metallic products. Growth was flat for the seal and machinery products,” says Director of Industry Statistics at Stats SA Nicolai Claassen.
#Manufacturing output increased by 0,2% in Q3:2024 compared with Q2:2024. Three of the ten manufacturing divisions recorded growth over this period.
