Police have availed necessary resources to facilitate the investigation of a major shooting in Bekkersdal, west of Johannesburg. Nine people were killed and 10 others were wounded in the incident, which happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Investigating teams are searching for a group of suspects that opened fire inside and outside a tavern in the Tambo section. More intelligence teams have been deployed to the crime scene.
Police say about 12 suspects stormed the KwaNoxolo tavern, at the Tambo section, and shot at patrons.
The violence spilt into the streets as the suspects continued to fire shots in the vicinity.
Police say the motive for the attack is still unknown. They are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit tip-offs via the MySAPS App on 082 759 2590.
Gauteng Acting Police Commissioner Fred Kekana says, “We don’t know the motive yet, but we are looking for a silver Toyota Etios and a white Toyota Quantum, which were used by the suspects.”
