Police in the Western Cape are still searching for suspects in the shooting incident at the Mfuleni taxi rank near Khayelitsha on the Cape Flats on Friday.

Four people were killed and three others, including a commuter, were wounded. Police officers have since been deployed to various taxi ranks in Cape Town.

Meanwhile, the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in the province says it will meet with representatives of taxi associations this coming week.

SANCO’s provincial chairperson Mandla Hermanus says, “SANTACO will be meeting with the relevant taxi associations to establish a full account of the events and determine how we can restore stability and ensure there is no further escalation of the conflict.”
