Mangaung Metro’s Comm’s GM on special leave amid harassment claims

The Mangaung Metro Municipality has placed its Communications General Manager, Qondile Khedama, on special leave after the resurfacing of sexual harassment allegations against him.

City Manager Sello More says the decision was motivated by a report from the Employee Wellness Division following a grievance hearing.

He says an independent team has been appointed to conduct a thorough investigation and provide recommendations within strict timelines.

More says the decision is aimed at ensuring a transparent and unhindered investigation into the claims.

“In consultation with the alleged victim, the city has also facilitated her placement in a new and supportive work environment to ensure her well-being during this process. The decision to place the general manager Special leave does not constitute a finding of guilt.”

More adds,” It is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring a fair, transparent, and just process for all parties involved. The city remains committed to maintaining a safe and respective workplace for all employees. “
