Manganye rejects the notion of two centres of power in Joburg

The newly elected secretary of the African National Congress (ANC) in the Greater Johannesburg region, Sasabona Manganye, who has been elected for a second term, has rejected the notion of two centres of power.

Manganye says the former regional chairperson and current Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero, who was pipped by Masuku for the chairperson position, will continue with his duties as mayor. He says that the fact that the current mayor is the former regional chairperson doesn’t create two centres of power.

“There are no two centres of power in the ANC; there is only one centre of power, and it is ANC. ANC deployees must operate on the basis of ANC mandate; it doesn’t matter whether the ANC deployee is the regional chair or is an ordinary member of ANC. Whoever it might be, our deployees understand that the centre is ANC.”
