A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl by the Groblersdal Regional Court in Limpopo. The man raped the teenager at Vezinyao village near Dennilton in July 2016 and May 2017.
He was also given a lesser sentence for an indecent assault on a 13-year old.
The NPA says the name of the convict won’t be divulged to protect the identity of the victim and to avoid secondary victimisation of the teenager.
NPA Spokesperson Mashudu Malabi, says, “The stepfather was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of a 15-year-old minor girl, plus 8 years imprisonment for sexual assault by the Groblersdal Regional Court. The name of the accused is concealed to protect the identity of the victim. The accused was a boyfriend of the mother of the victim.”
