Sinkhole at Relebogile Secondary School.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says teaching and learning conditions at the Relebogile Secondary School in Khutsong, west of Johannesburg, are disappointing.
The school was forced to close in 2023 after a huge sinkhole developed on the premises.
Learners are currently accommodated in adjacent temporary classrooms where there are a few toilets and limited water facilities.
Malema says the government has totally neglected the school.
“It is very painful. This is the highest form of negligence. This is hatred of blackness because this is a beautiful infrastructure, which we should have looked after. I think we can still make it. We can turn Relebogile Secondary around and make it one of the best schools. We just have to follow up on commitments. We have made commitments we will follow it up the MEC and will follow it up with the premier and knowing the premier if he comes himself and sees something like this. I can guarantee you there will some form movement,” says Malema.
