Malema says threats to his life are part of being a revolutionary

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says although he is worried about his safety, he knows that being killed comes with his job as a revolutionary. Malema was speaking to the media during his by-election campaign in Koppies in the Free State earlier on Sunday.

He was reacting to US President Donald Trump’s call on President Cyril Ramaphosa to arrest him for chanting the ‘Kill the Boer – Kill the Farmer’ slogan during their meeting last Wednesday.

Malema says Trump’s call meant he must be killed. But he says he is not scared, as being killed is what comes with his job as a politician.

“I am not fearful as a revolutionary; part of being killed is one of those honours you must wear with pride. But I am not going to be reckless. When he says to Ramaphosa, ‘Why are you not arresting this man?’ He is simply saying, ‘Why are you not killing this man?’ because this man wants to kill white people. That is what he believes, and imperialism, especially from the USA, makes such remarks, meaning something different. If you remember how they killed Gadhafi, they said no-fly zone in Libya, and that meant Gadhafi was going to be killed, so we know imperialism kills.”
