The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, says he has spoken to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board and the senior management as part of solving the debt owed to Sentech.
Malatsi was speaking to the SABC on the sidelines of handing over of the digital devices to learners at the Forest Village Leadership Academy in Eersteriver near Cape Town.
He says there is an understanding and appreciation from the SABC to meet its financial obligations despite the challenges it is facing.

Malatsi says he has spoken to the SABC board and management saying that they need to fulfill their obligations to pay their bill.
“No one, neither Sentech nor the SABC or anyone involved, would want to have a day wherein there is a risk of that signal will be cut off because it will have devastating consequences for everyone involved, but everyone must do their part. The SABC must pay Sentech what it owes for the services that Sentech provides and I think there is an understanding and appreciation from the SABC management to do that notwithstanding the challenges that they face,” says Malatsi.
