Two Bafana Bafana players, Sage Stephens and Evidence Makgopa, are excited to be part of the national team for different reasons. Stephens received his first call-up, while Makgopa is making his return after suffering from injuries.
The two will leave for Uganda with the rest of the squad on Thursday, for Bafana’s penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Cranes in Kampala. The former Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu and Cape Town City goalkeeper could not control his emotions when he received the good news.
“I actually could not believe it. I can only control my performances and ultimately the decision lies with the coach and when I saw my name for the first time I was very emotional. I don’t want to say a lot but I had to hold back few tears, because it’s a very special moment and achievement for me and I am just grateful for it ” Stephens exclaimed.
