The Standing Committee on Appropriations Chairperson and BOSA leader, Mmusi Maimane delivers pre-budget remarks at Parliament in Cape Town on March 10, 2025.
Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Appropriations, Mmusi Maimane, is urging the public to participate in public hearings on the 2025 Division of Revenue Amendment Bill being held across the country.
Maimane says the hearings are set to allow the public to make inputs on the budget.
Maimane will lead the hearings at Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane in Limpopo today.
“And because it’s the law, our laws are only passed when the people of South Africa also contribute. So we are asking South Africans to come and say what do you want to see in the budget. It is their budget, it is their money. Do they want to see VAT, do they want to see money spent on Education, Policing, Safety, where there are issues of healthcare, because at the end of the day as a committee, we have to hear the public, we have to hear the trade unions, then we hear the Minister of Finance and then we will make a recommendation,” says Maimane.
