Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s attorney Dinana Reid has expressed disappointment that they lost the High Court bid to prevent Netflix from flighting the ‘Beauty and the Bester’ Documentary.
Magudumana and her partner, convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester, launched an urgent application at the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday.
The matter was, however, struck off the roll due to a lack of urgency.

The High Court in Pretoria has DISMISSED Thabo Beater and Nandipha Magudumana’s bid to stop the airing of the Netflix documentary.
It can now be aired. #sabcews— Chriselda Zozi Lewis (Babes Wendaba) (@Chriseldalewis) September 12, 2025
Magudumana is said to have had an agreement with production company Storyscope before the attempt for the interdict.
Reid says they initially wanted to settle the matter outside court, but that failed.
“It’s not an easy one, it has been struck off the roll, but we really tried by all means to meet the agency. We are the ones that said, let us try and negotiate before we go to court, because we did not want to waste the court’s time. And in their conversation, it was never, basically, what they were saying was that you don’t have a case. You have been ill-advised. So, on one part, you are told that you can’t go to court and then on the other, you have to take instruction,” says Reid.
