Limpopo’s PSL outfit, Magesi FC, are aiming to lift the Carling Knockout Cup in their maiden season in the elite league. The Polokwane-based club, “Dikwena tsa Meetse”, travel to King Zwelithini Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal to play against Richards Bay FC in the semifinals of the competition on Saturday.

Magesi have eliminated Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, as well as TS Galaxy to reach the semifinal stage.

Head coach Clinton Larsen, says, “It’s a big occasion for the players to be in. 95% of them to be in their first semifinal. We have played very difficult games starting with Orlando Pirates where nobody gave us a chance. Everybody this season, whether it’s in this cup or next, whether is in the league, Magesi will be underdogs against any opposition. Nobody respects us because we are still growing our brand slowly, but surely people will start realising that we are team that can compete.”

Elvis Chipezeze believes that they will make history in their first season in the PSL.

“Cup games sometimes are unpredictable. We just going to go there and try to produce good results. We are in the verge of making history. We know that we just want to make this province of Limpopo proud, the people who are here, who believe in us to make sure that we put the smile on their faces because it will be a dream, you know. In the first season and also participating in the Carling Cup for the first time going all the way to the final would be something else.”
