Magashule decries delays in asbestos trail amid another postponement

Former Free State Premier Ace Magashule says the postponements in the R255 million asbestos corruption case have drained the pockets of the accused.

Magashule was speaking following their appearance in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein.

The former premier says former Human Settlement MEC, Olly Mlamleli, has approached Legal Aid for assistance, but did not pass the means test.

This is also as the lawyer of former HOD of Human Settlements, Nthimotse Mokhesi, withdrew from the case.

The case has been postponed to the 2nd of March.

Magashule says today’s postponement is another blow.

“What I know is that they are draining us; they have drained us. The state can pay for those guys who committed a lot of atrocities during apartheid times. They have representatives, those who killed our brothers and sisters; they are actually funded by the state. Mokhesi was an HOD (yet) the state can’t do that. Olly Mlamleli went to Legal Aid. She did not pass the means test. What will make Tim Mokhesi to meet the means test? You see another delay.”
