Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya has announced that the final report of the Madlanga Commission will be released to the public.
He explains that the Commission will provide guidance to the President on matters deemed sensitive to national security and outline how such issues will be addressed over time.
Magwena, however, states that the interim report, which the President is expected to receive on Wednesday, will not be made public. This is due to the fact that some witnesses who have already appeared before the Commission are scheduled to return next year.
He adds that the purpose of the interim report is to keep the President informed of the Commission’s progress and recent developments.
Efforts to repatriate SA men stranded in Ukraine
Magwenya has indicated that efforts to secure the return of young men stranded in Ukraine are being handled with extreme caution due to the volatile conditions in the region.
He explained that the individuals are in an environment where their lives are at risk.
Magwenya confirms that diplomatic engagements are underway with authorities in both Russia and Ukraine, with a greater focus on discussions involving Russian officials.
He adds that the matter is being treated as a top priority at the highest level.
