The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) says the passing of revered political journalist Tshidi Madia is not only a loss for the journalism fraternity but also a loss for South Africa.
Madia passed away on Wednesday in hospital following a short illness.
She was regarded as one of the country’s leading political journalists with her insightful analysis and in-depth interviews with the country’s politicians.
She served as Radio 702’s Eyewitness News Associate Politics Editor at the time of her death.
Sanef says her integrity and dedication to journalism will inspire generations to come.
The forum says Madia commanded the respect of all political parties and political players, while at the same time held them to account with professionalism and integrity.
Sanef adds that she was a mentor and inspiration to many young journalists, particularly women journalists.
