Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has conducted an oversight visit at the construction site of the Limpopo Theatre, at the Bakone Malapa Open-Air Museum in Polokwane.
Macpherson and Public Works MECs from all nine provinces are meeting in Polokwane to assess infrastructure throughout the country.
Macpherson says the construction of the theatre will drive economic growth and job creation in Limpopo.
“We are happy we are in the province of Limpopo, the honourable premier and the MEC are here today and it is really wonderful to be here at the site. We see the work that the MEC and the premier are doing on this particular project, it is going to be a fabulous theatre and that is going to have the arts and craft of this magnificent province.”
Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba says they will ensure that the construction of the theatre is completed within the allocated period.
“There were challenges last year where there were construction mafias, we came in and made our intervention and of course, we will continue to work with the communities and traditional leaders.”
This morning, ahead of MINMEC, we also visited a regravelling project being champion by MEC Tonny Rachoene at Dikgerekgere in Limpopo to assess the progress being made, and to complement the province on the work they are doing.
