African National Congress (ANC)’s Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says former Deputy President David Mabuza embodied the spirit of the Freedom Charter.
The Freedom Charter’s principles emphasize equality, human rights, and social justice, advocating for a society where all citizens have equal opportunities and rights.
Mbalula was speaking after paying his respect at Mabuza’s family farm in Barberton, Mpumalanga.
Mabuza died due to illness, at the age of 64 last week.
“He was a living embodiment of the Freedom Charter. His love for the landless, his love for the child in the classroom,” says Mbalula.
Mabuza will be honoured with three memorial services. The main event will be addressed by ANC Deputy President, Paul Mashatile.
Mabuza will be accorded a state funeral Category 2, with full military honours. The funeral will be held at Bergvlam in Mbombela.
