Lungile Binza appointed SABC Chief Operating Officer

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has appointed Lungile Binza as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective March 1, 2025.

Binza has been serving as the Acting COO since February 2024.

Before this role, he was the Group Executive: Technology, where he spearheaded significant advancements in digital transformation initiatives.

A software engineer by profession, Binza holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and Mathematical Statistics. He furthered his education with a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science and obtained two master’s degrees: a Master of Commerce in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town and a Master in Business Administration in General Management from the University of Pretoria. He is currently finalising his PhD in Ethical Artificial Intelligence.

In a statement, SABC GCEO Nomsa Chabedi congratulated Binza on the announcement: “With over two decades of experience in technology and executive management, Mr. Binza has held key positions in various sectors, including banking and manufacturing. His extensive expertise and visionary approach have been instrumental in driving innovation and operational excellence within our organisation.”
