Limpopo traditional leader gunned down

A traditional leader has been shot dead and a family member wounded during a robbery at Makhuvha village outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo.

The wounded person has been taken to the hospital.

Fifty-nine-year-old Chief Ntikedzeni Makhuvha was shot by armed robbers wearing balaclavas and security-type uniforms inside his house.

The robbers had demanded vehicle keys and money. They fled with a vehicle, a laptop, a TV and two cell phones.

Police Spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says a task team has been set up to investigate the incident.

Ledwaba says, “The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe has set up a specialised team to mobilise necessary resources to ensure that these perpetrators are swiftly brought to book to face the full might of the law, calling upon our communities and all relevant stakeholders to assist the police with information that may lead to the arrest of these ruthless criminals.”
