Limpopo residents urged to be safe amid inclement weather


The Limpopo MEC for Cooperative Governance Basikopo Makamu has called on residents to prioritize their safety during the festive season.

This follows a Level Two warning issued by the South African Weather Service for Wednesday, with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

Level Two weather warnings is a chance of severe weather.

The MEC’s spokesperson, Tsakani Baloyi says affected areas in Limpopo may include the Polokwane, Maruleng, Tzaneen and Fetakgomo-Tubatse municipalities.

“Heavy downpours with thunderstorms that will result in localized flooding of susceptible roads, informal settlements and low-lying bridges and areas, excessive lightning, strong damaging winds and large amount of small hail is expected over central parts of Limpopo and other adjacent provinces such as Gauteng and Mpumalanga. Areas that can be affected in Limpopo includes, Elias Motsoaledi Fetakgomo-Tubatse, Maruleng, Greater Tzaneen, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Makhuduthamaga, Polokwane and Moletji.”
