Limpopo Acting Provincial Commissioner, Jan Scheepers, says they have put in measures to ensure safety during the festive season.
Police have been conducting various operations across the province, including a series of raids in liquor stores at Mankweng outside Polokwane.
They arrested suspects for various criminal activities, including possession of illegal cigarettes and dagga.
Scheepers says they will continue to have daily operations and roadblocks across the province.
“We will continue with these operations. This is not a one-off operation. This will be on a daily basis. We have also increased our number of roadblocks, our number of vehicle control points, and the stop and search operations on all our highways, not only on the highways, but also on the byways. So, we will take these operations also to the village.”
“We said to ourselves as a province, we’re going to take policing to the community. So everywhere where you go in the province, you will see police members available and ready to act. We take a zero-tolerance approach to everybody. So whatever crime you commit in this province, we will be able to deal with you,” adds Scheepers.
