Limpopo police arrest suspect for firearm theft

Police in Limpopo have arrested a 50-year-old man in connection with theft of firearms and burglary at Ohrigstad in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.

Police spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba says the suspect and his girlfriend, who is an employee at the complainant’s residence, conspired to steal the guns. Mashaba says they recovered a revolver, two rifles, two pellet guns and ammunition. Mashaba says they have also arrested a domestic worker, the suspect’s girlfriend.

“Following the registration of the burglary report, police received further information regarding the suspect’s possible whereabouts. Around 20h00, the suspect was spotted hitchhiking along the R36 road, carrying several bags. Upon arrival, the officers located the suspect still hitchhiking with his bags. A search was conducted, revealing the stolen firearms and ammunition in the suspect’s possession. The investigation also uncovered that the suspect had conspired with his girlfriend, who worked for the complainant, to carry out the burglary. The girlfriend was subsequently arrested.”
