Limpopo pig farm murder case postponed to July

The double murder trial of a Limpopo pig farmer has been postponed to July this year in the High Court in Polokwane.

The trial within a trial over the admissibility of a confession statement by accused number one, Zachariah Olivier, is set to continue when the matter is back in court.

Investigating officer Captain Phaladi Makola will resume on the stand.

Olivier and his co-accused William Musora are being tried for the murder of two women, Maria Makgato and Kudzai Ndlovu, at Onverwacht farm outside Polokwane in August 2024.

The women’s bodies were disposed of in a pigsty.

Judge Jane Ngobeni has said that a new state witness will start testifying when the trial resumes.

“The case against both of you is adjourned to 6th of July 2026 to the 9th of July 2026 for further hearing and you are both still remanded in custody.”

Earlier, Olivier’s lawyer Advocate Jakobus Venter told the court that the lead investigating officer is dishonest.

Venter said that Captain Phaladi Makola didn’t follow the right procedures while arresting his client.

Makola has however disputed Venter’s accusation, saying he followed the right procedures.
