Lekompo musician, Lehlogonolo Chauke popularly known by his stage name, Shebe Maburna in court
A prominent Lekompo musician, Lehlogonolo Chauke, popularly known as Shebe Maburna is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Wednesday.
Shebe Maburna has been in custody since his arrest in November last year.
He is facing charges including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
The musician’s lawyers approached the Polokwane High Court last month to appeal the court’s ruling to deny him bail in December last year.
The High Court dismissed the urgent application.
In one of the incidents, Maburna allegedly shot and wounded a fan in Ladanna, Polokwane, in October last year.
The acting Judge at the High Court dismissed his application stating that although Maburna is a musician who depends on the money from his performances, there are no exceptional grounds for him to be released on bail.
